Youth-safety policy
Last updated 1 September 2026 · Draft for review, not yet checked by a lawyer.
Under-18s are never alone with an unrelated adult, every event has a named supervisor, and a parent can turn up at any time without warning.
See volunteer opportunities →The four rules
- No volunteer under 18 is ever alone with an adult who is not their own parent or guardian. If a task would leave two people alone, we send three.
- Every event has one named adult supervisor, published in advance with a contact number that a parent can call during the event.
- Photographs of anyone under 18 require a signed parental consent sheet. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, and images come down the same day.
- Parents and guardians may attend any event their child is at, without asking and without notice.
Before a young volunteer starts
We contact the parent or guardian directly and confirm the date, the task, the supervisor's name and the finish time. Nobody under 18 is confirmed on a sign-up alone.
Adults who supervise
Supervisors are named, known to the group, and briefed on these rules before the event. Anyone who will regularly supervise young volunteers completes a background check before their first shift.
Raising a concern
Email hello@sattvareset.org or call the number on the event listing. Concerns about a child's safety are acted on the same day, and we will tell you what we did. If a situation involves immediate danger, call emergency services first.
Age limits
Each opportunity lists its own minimum age. Food-pantry sorting starts at 10 with a parent present, race-day crew at 14, and photography at 16. We do not make exceptions downward.
